Jane Burnell Fraser, one of our favorite Four Seasons execs who’s been known to sing and dance on stage at a Virtuoso global conference, talks to us about the travel experience that changed her life and what she’d be doing if not working in the luxury hotel world:

ETI: What is your official title and how long have you been in this role:
JBF: Vice President Sales – The Americas for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts

ETI: Title aside, tell us what do you really do on a day to day basis?
JBF: Ask questions, listen, think, action, take the lead & have fun with my team!

ETI: What did you do before your current role? What was the most unexpected aspect of your career path?
JBF: I was Vice President of Sales – Europe, Middle East & Africa for Four Seasons based in Dubai. Unexpected move? Moving from Dubai to Toronto!

ETI: If you weren’t doing what you are doing now, what direction do you think you would have followed?
JBF: I would have been a Children’s TV presenter.

ETI: As someone who travels frequently, tell us three things you cannot travel without?
JBF: English tea bags, a note from my husband, my US work visa!

ETI: Best thing that’s ever happened to you while traveling?
JBF: Meeting my future husband on BA107 London – Dubai flight 10 years ago!

ETI: What to you constitutes a true luxury hotel experience?
JBF: Unexpected personalized creativity

ETI: Where in the world have you experienced the absolute best hotel stay of your life and why?
JBF: Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. The views, the plunge pool with my room, mango margaritas, private sunset dinner on the rock, engaging employees and a truly exceptional GM!

ETI: What are your travel/hotel pet peeves?
JBF: TSA lines! Not having a kettle in my room so I can make my English tea.

ETI: Favorite places to shop and dine around the globe?
JBF: Souks in Cairo & Istanbul – such fun! For dining…anywhere you can dine with a view, Four Seasons Hong Kong, Maldives, St Louis & Shanghai come to mind – the food is great as well!
